NO VIBRATO started playing in 1992 with different musicians fascinated by MONKs and COLTRANE's universe. Gig after gig, looking for its own sound, the band has build up ifs identity, giving a favor to an open and deep-seated improvisation, and keeping away from any intellectualism or sophisticated romanticism.

Most of the tunes are much appreciated original compositions from the pianist and leader Etienne RICHARD

Wifh about 50 concerts a year, NO VIBRATO has played in the best jazz clubs, art centers and festivals in Belgium. The band is also performing regularly in Luxembourg, in France (more than 160 concerts), Spain, Switzerland an Québec.

The quintet :
NO VIBRATO uses to play in quintet (with tenor and alto/soprano sax) since may 2000. This new option is very succesful (for example the " Grand Place " stage during the last Brussels Jazz Marathon in front of a few thousand people)

o Manu HERMIA or/and Frédéric DELPLANCQ on saxes : two rising " stars " of the new Belgian generation.
o Bilou DONEUX (drums) has played with the best musicians in Belgium. He has played with the famous world music band ZAP MAMA, Jean-Pierre catoul and Toots THIELEMANS
o Chris MENTENS on double bass : member of the " Chris JORIS experience ", he has played with Deborah BROWN, Sylvia DROSTE, Judy NIEMACK, Gordon BRISKER , Slide HAMPTON, Gene CONNORS, Mal WALDRON.
o Etienne RICHARD on piano : he has done many concerts with the female singers Mandy GAINES (USA). Loretta SCOTT (GB), Mina SMALL (F-USA) and the californian sax player Paul STOCKER
